Who are we?

We are a congregation of believers who follow Jesus as our King. We strive to live as His disciples, which means we work together to learn and follow His teachings and example. (Matt. 28:18-20)

By God's grace, we strive to be more like Jesus every day. "Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus."
(1 Thess. 4:1-2, NKJV)

Our desire is to "do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Col. 3:17). So that, "in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever."
(1 Peter 4:11)

What Is Our Worship Like?

1

Teaching

Our worship always includes teaching from the Bible. Romans 10:17 says that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." So, in all of our sermons and studies, we strive to teach and speak only what we can read in the Bible as the word of God.

2

Prayer

We pray together (Philippians 4:6). In our prayers we offer up thanks and praise to God, pray about urgent needs, and ask for His help in this congregation and our community that all may come to faith in Jesus Christ.

3

Singing

We sing acapella, which means with our voices and not with mechanical instruments. Ephesians 5:19 teaches us to "speak to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord."

4

Lord's Supper

We observe the Lord's Supper (or communion) every first day of the week. According to Acts 20:7, "On the first day of the week"  the disciples "came together to break bread".  Paul wrote in 1 Cor. 10:20, "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?"
Jesus gave us this supper as an opportunity to remember His death, His body that was offered and His blood that cleanses us of our sins.  "
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes" (1 Cor. 11:26). For this, we give thanks.

5

Giving

We give as the Lord has blessed us each first day of the week. This is not tithing. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 says, "On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper..." The members of this congregation give freely as an expression of our love and gratitude to God. The funds are used to continue work of this congregation and help brethren in need. We do not solicit funds from our visitors.

Our Work as a Church

In the New Testament, believers are seen working together in local churches. In every example, there is a consistent pattern showing general areas of focus in the church:

  1. Edification (Ephesians 4:15-16): This means to build up or strengthening the disciples through teaching, exhortation, and instruction.
  2. Evangelism (1 Corinthians 9:14): This means to proclaim the good news of salvation. Congregations did this locally while also supporting  men who worked in other areas (Philippians 4:12-18).
  3. Benevolence (1 Corinthians 16:1-4). This describes love shown by caring for genuine, physical needs. The churches described in the Bible were not taught to spend their energy and resources on frivolous activities and games. Rather, they were instructed to be diligent in addressing "urgent needs" (Titus 3:14), such as helping widows, the poor, the sick, and others who were destitute (1 Timothy 5:3-16).
