What does the word "church" mean? Is the church a building? Is it an organization? Is it a people? In this Bible study we explore the history and etymology of the English word "church" and how it came to be the common translation of the Greek word ekklesia.
Through the Bible narrative God gradually develops the imagery of an eternal kingdom that would be given eternal, universal dominion. The Messiah would be the king.
By what standard do we measure greatness? Jesus says the greatest of all will be the servant of all. To enter the kingdom, we must become humble as a child.

Jesus was moved by compassion when He encountered the sick, the suffering and the sinful. He manifested God's love by acting on that compassion with acts of mercy.
Jesus reveals the love of God as expressed in the life of a man. He shows how God's love is compassionate toward the suffering, sinfulness, and pain of mankind.
