Lesson 3: Apprenticeship Discipleship
As disciples, Jesus teaches us to do more that follow Him. He calls us to learn His way of life and to become like Him. Disciples are both learners and followers, but there's more. Jesus calls His disciples to become like Him and imitate his Character, manner of life, and aspire to a closer relationship with the Father.
In the Parables Jesus describes what the kingdom is like. In Romans 14 Paul describes what the kingdom IS. How do we identify what is the kingdom of heaven today?
Our hope in the great and precious promises of God help to anchor our souls through the storms of life. What are those promises? What is our inheritance in Christ?
Is confessing our sins something Christians should be doing? The Bible pattern teaches us, yes. And the apostle John also instructs us to in Christ in 1 John 1:9.
Continuing our discussion of the importance of contemplation in prayer, we elaborate on the need to contemplate how God is working in our lives and draw near to Him.
